December 2015 Newsletter

Holiday Closings 
Thursday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st  
The Spinney at Pond View offices will be closed to enjoy December holidays.  We hope that you enjoy with you and yours! 

Holiday Decorating Contest 
Embrace the season and decorate the porch of your cottage for a chance to win!  Please do not affix any decorations to the siding of your cottage.  If you have any questions regarding your decorations, please call the Leasing Office first.  Judging of decorations will occur on the 10th and the winners will be announced at the holiday party on the 20th! 

Capital Lights in the Park

Enjoy Albany lit up for the holidays.  Money must be paid at the time of sign-up. 

Make Your Own Jewelry

Flu Shot Clinic

A representative from Rite Aid Pharmacy will be in our Welcome Center on Wednesday, November 18th from 10AM - 12PM giving flu shots out to residents.  If you would like to get a flu shot please sign up in the Welcome Center.  The clinic will take place as long as 15 people sign up so please sign up as soon as possible!

Holiday Closing

Birdfeeders at The Spinney
Despite their beauty and the enjoyment of bird watching, Rule 4 of your Lease touches on not leaving anything on the grounds which includes, but is not limited to, bird feeders.  Although the lease does not specifically mention bird feeders, it does state no structures of any kind are to be left on the grounds.  Kindly please remove these structures.

Salute to Veterans at the Log Cabin
Wednesday, November 11th
Cost: $85/person
Broadway singer Karen Wagner will honor America’s heroes through a special patriotic musical tribute at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, MA.  Sign up in the Welcome Center.

Sip and Paint
Saturday, November 14th, 7PM
Cost: $20/person
All experienced and non-experienced artists invited!  An instructor will give step-by-step instructions on how to create your own painting.  Please sign up in the Welcome Center.

The Poisoned Pigskin Murder Mystery and Lunch
Tuesday, November 17th, 12PM

A murder mystery presented by Matinee Theater Players including lunch provided by Paula’s Country Kitchen.  Enjoy the fun at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts!  Sign up in the Welcome Center.

Curtain Call Theater: “Charley’s Aunt"

Enjoy this comedy about two Oxford undergraduates who persuade their classmate to impersonate a millionaire aunt.  Sign up in the Welcome Center.

Thanksgiving Equinox Volunteering

Hayride and Bonfire at Kristy’s Barn

Oktoberfest at the Log Cabin
Wednesday, October 14th

Deadline: ASAP

Venture to Holyoke, MA with Yankee Trails to enjoy all that is Oktoberfest!  Once you arrive at the Log Cabin, you will be greeted with a topnotch German meal and entertained by John Banker and his “Merry Men Oompah Band”.  The program will consist of humor, sing-alongs, and interactive fun.  Sign-up in the Welcome Center.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Sunday, October 18th

Participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Albany’s Washington Park.  The Spinney at Pond View will be wearing shirts to show unity against breast cancer.  Sign up in the Welcome Center for more information.

September/October Birthday Celebration
Monday, October 26th

All residents are welcome.  Refreshments and cake provided. Please sign up in the Welcome Center if you will be attending!

Halloween/Costume Party
Saturday, October 31st, 7PM

Celebrate Halloween by wearing your best costume to the party in the Welcome Center.  Prizes will be given out!  Drinks provided, please sign up for appetizers/desserts on the sign-up sheet.

LATE NIGHT WALKERS
Please ensure that you wear bright clothes (preferably with reflecting gear) and utilize the sidewalks when walking in the dark hours of the night.  There have been a few reported incidents where residents have not been easily seen by other residents and we want everyone to be safe!

Cocktails at the Gazebo

 So popular, we’re doing it again!  Join your friends and neighbors for cocktails at the gazebo right near the pond in the community.  We request that you bring something you would like to drink or contribute $7 to imbibe at the time of the party.

Day at the Saratoga Race Track
Thursday, August 13th
Now that the track is finally open for the season, it’s time for a day at the races!  Please sign up in the Welcome Center and refer to the cover sheet for more specifics on plans for the day.

Rhode Island Light House Tour

Enjoy a tour of some of Rhode Island’s most beautiful light houses.  Seats are limited for this activity so please sign up in the Welcome Center as soon as possible.  The sign-up sheet provides details of the day’s activities.  The deadline for payment for this activity is also as soon as possible.

“Singin’ in the Rain”

Enjoy the play Singin’ in the Rain at the Park Playhouse in Albany, located in Washington Park!  Singin’ in the Rain is a tap dancing spectacular set in the dazzling world of Hollywood in the 1920’s, when talking pictures were first coming to life.  Lawn seating is free, but you can also purchase reserved seating for $18/ticket.  Sign up in the Welcome Center.

June 2015 Newsletter

To answer residents’ questions regarding the construction efforts next to the Commercial Building (2500 Pond View Way), the current construction plan is as follows:
1) Clubhouse – Construction of the Clubhouse will begin before the building of additional Spinney cottages.  We are hopeful that the infrastructure for this building will be completed this summer and that the building will be finished by Spring/Summer 2016.
2) Additional Cottages – There are 70 additional cottages that will be built.  Work on the infrastructure and utilities will begin Summer/Fall 2015.
Please do keep in mind that these are rough dates as construction timelines can be affected by many different things.  If you have any additional questions please contact the office.

American Harp Recital

May 2015 Newsletter

Removal of Lawn Items Not Approved per Lease
Per the rules incorporated into the Lease Agreement pursuant to Section 13 signed by all residents at The Spinney at Pond View, no items are to be left unattended on The Spinney grounds and this includes furniture, toys, appliances, chairs, barbecues, etc.  In addition, residents are not to do “any work upon the grounds including, as examples but not as limitations, mowing, pruning, cutting digging or planting.”  This includes any items that will hinder in any spring clean-up efforts, mowing, or other landscaping work to be done by Spinney employees.  Please remove any items that are not approved by the Lease prior to May 31st or they will be removed by our Landscape Staff.  Please reference your lease or call the office with any questions.

Tower Garden Presentation

For those who were longing for the Community Garden, a “Tower Garden” may be just the right solution for you!  A Tower Garden is a growing system which can grow up to 20 plants and is perfect for patio, deck, and porch gardens.  Sign up in the Welcome Center to attend and learn more
