March 2017 Newsletter

Day Activities
Karen will be onsite from 11AM – 3PM in the new Clubhouse for events during the day as well as to receive any feedback or suggestions residents may have about events. All below events begin at 12PM.  Please sign up in the Clubhouse.

Dementia Event to Celebrate Dementia Week
Thursday, March 16th, 12:30PM
David Troxel will be visiting our Clubhouse to educate and speak to Spinney residents and their families about the challenges that dementia can bring.  Atria, the Capital District’s leading provider of assisted and supportive living, will be providing lunch prepared by one of their chef’s!  If you would like to attend, please sign up in the Clubhouse, e-mail pondviewleasing@thespinneygroup.com or call (518) 479-0800, letting us know how many people will be in attendance.

Traditional St. Patrick’s Day Dinner
Thursday, March 16th, 6PM
Cost: $10/person
One of the most popular events all year!  Enjoy a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dinner in the Clubhouse!  Be sure to wear green!

French Toast Breakfast
Saturday March 18th, 9-11AM
Cost: $6/person
Enjoy a French toast breakfast in the Clubhouse!

Sunday Brunch Buffet at Treviso (IACC)

Enjoy a delicious Sunday brunch at the Italian-American Community Center!

Spinney Book Club Meeting
Tuesday, March 21st, 6PM
The Spinney Book Club is currently reading LION by Saroo Brierley and will be discussing the book at the next meeting in the Clubhouse Conference room.  If you’re interested, please come and join us!

Lunch at SCCC
March 23rd, 12PM
Cost: $16/person
Enjoy an Italian themed lunch prepared by Schenectady County Community College culinary students!

Tropical Beach Themed Party
Saturday, March 25th, 7PM
We may be far from summer, but this beach-themed party will transport you to those warmer months!  Be sure to dress the part!

Yankee Trails Trip to Culinary Institute of America
Tuesday, March 28th, bus leaves at 8:45AM
Cost: $90/person (includes bus, lunch and tour)
Take a trip to the CIA and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared on site.  Top the trip off with a tour of the facility.  Please sign up in the Clubhouse.

Pot Luck Dinner
Wednesday, March 29th, 6PM
Prepare your favorite dish and share it with your neighbors and friends.  Be sure to sign up in the Clubhouse.


February 2017 Newsletter

Resident Directory
Resident, Linda Kospa, will be spearheading the effort of creating a new Community Directory.  If you would like to be a part of this, please provide your name, address and/or phone number to Linda Kospa by calling her at (518) 465-3282 or dropping your information off at her cottage (6 Antwerp Drive, #5).  The new Community Directory will only be distributed to those residents who choose to provide their information.

Healthy Bones for Life Exercise & Education Program
Tuesdays at 10AM, Thursdays at 4PM
Join resident instructor, Ann Yetmen, for a program involving exercise, balance and stretching which benefits all ages and fitness levels.  This program is sponsored by RSVP of the Capital Region in partnership with Sunnyview Hospital and is free!  Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Chair Yoga
Wednesdays at 10AM
Cost: $8 for 4-week class
Spinney resident, Joan Haggerty, recently relocated to Castleton to be nearer to her children.  Joan is very passionate about teaching others about the benefits of the yoga practice as it has assisted with her own recovery and management of health challenges throughout the years.  Join Joan and learn why yoga is so good for you! 

Spinney Book Club

Saturday, February 18th, 3PM
Cost: $30 per person due 2/3 (cash only)
Broadway Director Gordon Greenberg and NY Times writer Bob Morris collaborate on the World Premiere of Assisted Loving (Dating with My Dad), a hilarious dating comedy for every generation.  Please leave money due in the cashbox.

Pizza & Movie Night
Saturday, February 25th, 6:30PM
Sign up in the Clubhouse.  Movie will be selected closer to the 25th!

January/February Birthdays
